Gérard Ducret lives in the Hautes-Alpes. For about forty years he has been working with wood, stone, bronze, snow and ice, going from the minuscule to the monumental, from the animal kingdom to the human world.
In his sculptures created over the years, one can sense a humour mixed with tenderness, and a quiet singularity, far from contemporary fashions.
We present his recent work, his "Little Characters". They are small but they have found their right dimension in the ageless mineral world made of lauzes and stones from the mountains where he goes to look for them. Solitary walkers, summit meetings, mountaineers facing the elements or the spirits of the mountains, wandering travellers... A whole tiny humanity on the move and which undoubtedly touches us because it resembles us.
